Bollywood Hindi Movie Review "Dr. Vidya (1962 )"
A great Hindi Bollywood movie called Dr. Vidya was launched in 1962. This family drama and social picture, which was directed by Rajendra Bhatia and produced by Mohan Seghal under the Deluxe Films banner, had a significant influence on Indian cinema.
The story centres on Dr. Vidya (Vyjayanthimala), a committed and sympathetic medical professional who dedicates her life to helping the underprivileged and the destitute. The portrayal of Dr. Vidya's character is excellent, highlighting her sacrifices, efforts, and difficulties in a world marred by inequity and poverty.
The film was made during a time when educated urbanites were becoming more impacted by western culture, therefore those from rural areas who placed a high value on values and culture vehemently refrained from getting married into urban families.
Geeta is a girl from a wealthy family who has received a good education. Her parents instilled in her traditional values and respect for them from an early age. After she graduates, her parents choose Ratan Chowdhury, the son of a zaminder, as her spouse. They did this because they believed that a highly educated wife wouldn't be able to handle and manage a home, particularly in a mixed family.
Later, he marries Geeta, but he is unable to accept her because of his mindset and other people's opinions. Poor Geeta had to return to her parents' home after he rejected her.
She refuses to get remarried despite strong pressure from her parents and friends. Instead, she keeps working towards her goal of becoming a doctor.
Having earned a degree in medical science, Vidya returns to Ratan's village. She wants to dispel whatever false impressions Ratan may have about her. Since he had never even seen her face, not even during marriage, Ratan was unable to recognise her. He falls in love with Vidya and plans to marry her, but Ratan meets with an accident and sustains a severe injury during the annual cart race.
